Our hotel accommodations in Roma were very nice, our hotel was in the center of town right behind the Pantheon. Every morning we had a nice buffet breakfast before setting our for our adventures. By far my favorite place we visited of our trip in Roma was Vatican City, St Peters Basilica was amazing! While we enjoyed our time in the Sistine Chapel, the guards reminding people to be quiet and not take pictures became annoying. It sure was amazing though. Sorry no pictures to share, I am a rule follower 🙂
We enjoyed dinner one night at the Irish Pub in town, which I hate to admit but was one if the best meals that we had while in Rome. Nick had the nachos which were amazing and I had the beef in Guinness, which was teasty. We met a very nice girl from Seattle that bought our drinks because she saw Nick hobbling (per one of the students) around town earlier in the dag and was impressed that he was still going. Trust me though after dinner and drinks we didn’t last much longer!
Our last day in Rome we visited projects by Renzo Piano (our dog’s namesake), Zaha Hadid (Guidi’s least favorite project) and Richard Meier. While the Roman architecture is impressive, it was also nice to see some contemporary as well. We finished our day with a visit to the Colosseum and all I can say is WOW! What an amazing structure, hard to believe that it was built in the first century.
