On Tuesday we headed to Torino. The previous day a colleague of Nicks arrived from Clemson and he made the trip with us. The weather in Torino was nice, while overcast it was not as chilly as we anticipated! We were able to see some nice buildings and beautiful piazzas, as well as the Fiat factory.
We had a tasty lunch close to the center of town, Nick and I split a pizza and bruschetta, which was the best I’ve ever had. Afterwards we stopped for some of the best gelato that I’ve had yet! We had a specific kind that Giudi tells us Torino is known for, but unfortunately I forget the name. Basically described as high quality Nutella, made of hazelnuts and chocolate.
The only picture I have from the day on my phone is below…
Nick’s computer is being worked on, so I will be sure to upload the edited pictures once we return from our long trip.
On Wednesday we had a nice dinner in Genova near Piazza di Ferrari with Nick’s Clemson colleague, as well as the Genova colleagues and their spouses. Nick started with a mushroom soufflé app and I had pork with apples (which was really applesauce), I didn’t love mine so ended up eating most of Nick’s, which was delish! Then for dinner I had the lasagna rosemaria – it was to die for, not your tradition lasagna though, as the sauce was white. It was so rich, but so good that I devoured it! For dessert I had what was described to me as panne cotta, while very different then any other that I’ve had, it was wonderful! I was so sick to my stomach on the way home from stuffing my face all night, but oh my goodness it was awesome!
I have been trying my best to get ahead with school work this past week as we leave for our long trip tomorrow bright and early! We catch the train to Rome at 7:00 am! I am so excited as this will be the first time I’ve ever been! I have no idea what I’m excited to see and do, but I do look forward to working my way through the recommendation list that my friend Kelly sent me of gelaterias and restaurants!
We will be on the go most of the week, but I hope to be able to at least throw some quick pictures up on the blog throughout the week. Our hotels look very nice, I am looking forward to nice warm rooms with showers with awesome water pressure, something the villa apartment is lacking 🙂
