Tuesday’s day trip took us to Como, home of villas owned by George Clooney and Donatella Versace, to name a few.  While I was there to seek out celebrities, the students were there to study buildings of architect of Giuseppe Terragni, most famous of the Italian Rationalists.

Our day started out by taking a private bus to Como, our journey there was a little longer then anticipated due to traffic outside of Milano.  We stopped first to see two of Terragni’s projects and then made our way into historic Como, where we had lunch.  I had a nice lunch in the town’s center at a cafe with outdoor seating in front of the Como Duomo.  After lunch we all met up at the water front to view more of the projects.  Even though the weather was not the best, it was gloomy and sprinkled on and off all day, I am in love with Como.  The town has a wonderful charm, the lake sits up against the mountains, with colorful houses up and down the mountainside, it was beautiful.  I hope that when we return in the spring that there might be a little sun, but last spring there was snow on the ground, so I won’t get my hopes up 🙂
