Weeks ago when we first arrived to Genova we made our way down to the port where the
Acquario di Genova, designed by Renzo Piano stands and we stated that there was no way that we could visit. The ticket prices were outrageous and there was too many other beautiful things to be seen. Well after spending over a week in the Villa, only venturing out for Nick’s follow up appointment, we went to the Aquarium today for my birthday! We felt that this would be an ideal place to spend a couple hours in a city that is not handicap able friendly While ticket prices were still expensive (lol) we enjoyed our time there, and were able to see a lot of animals, including dolphins, seals, penguins and manatees. The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium does put this place to shame though – we are spoiled by Jack 😉

After about 2 hours at the aquarium Nick had enough – even the aquarium is not very handicap friendly – while it did have elevators, the transitions were terrible and he had to end up walking a lot anyways…
I apologize to my loyal readers that the blog has been slow lately, but since we got Nick home from the hospital we have been bums around the villa. He did have his follow up appointment on Wednesday, the physician stated that everything looked greatly, unfortunately he has a much bigger incision then we anticipated, but I assured him that his hair would grow back in and you would hardly notice 🙂 We haven’t been out of the villa except for this appointment and my occasional runs to Carrefour in San Nicola and to pick up pizza at
Pizzeria Castelletto. I believe Nick is rethinking this whole marriage thing, never thought he would be the one to get injured, therefore truly understanding his wife’s lack of culinary skills 🙂

Thankfully Anna & Luca brought by dinner on Thursday – traditional Genovese food, complete with gelato 🙂 Yum! They were so sweet, we enjoyed delicious food and their wonderful company.
I don’t think that I ever thought that I would be so happy at the thought of the students returning back from their trip today – I knew that spending 24/7 with Nick was going to be a challenge, but never really thought we would be “stuck” together for 24/7 🙂 I am very excited for them to return and hear all about the wonderful things that they saw, which we look forward to seeing in the Spring!
Thank you all for being patient with me throughout the week, I hope to be able to get out a little more in the coming weeks since Nick will have other caregivers around again…. Until then here are a couple random shots from our week.
