Don’t get too excited though, not much different then the one that I came to Italy with 🙂  Over the past couple of weeks my hair had been annoying me and I thought that before I left the States getting one last hair cut might last me until I returned, but I was wrong.  It was getting uncontrollable, so I asked Silvia if she could recommend somewhere close by.  Well she recommended her stylist, Barbara, she called and made an appointment for me for Thursday at 2:00 pm.

Nick had another follow up appointment at the hospital and we figured that we would have enough time to get back and then head to town for lunch and then my appointment.  Apparently everyone in Genova was seeing the Orthopedics today because we were there for over 2 hours waiting to see the physician, along with trying to reschedule his next appointment.  I asked Silvia if she could have the taxi drop us off somewhere close to the hairdresser, and we would find some lunch and then make our way there.

We made our way to Via XX Settembre where some of Genova’s bigger shopping stores are, and headed to H&M so Nick could look for a sweatshirt and some gloves.  We were successful and then grabbed a quick lunch at one of the bars close to Piazza di Ferrari.  Luckily after lunch we still had about an hour, so we made the short walk to Piazza di Ferrari and sat in the sun and people watched for about a half an hour.  It was so nice to be out and about.  As I am sure that most of you have gather Genova is on the side of a mountain with a lot of stairs.  Nick has been leery to venture out much, but I think that being out today gave him a little more confidence.  It was great to be out in the city, just the two of us… When we first arrived in Genova there was not much going on around the city as most Italians were still on Holiday and a lot of the shops were still closed.  Then Nick’s accident occurred and we really haven’t been back out into Genova except for the taxi rides to the hospital, so I think that we both enjoyed our time, and we needed that time away from the villa.  However, it made us more anxious for next semester to get here as we have a lot of making up to do!

My experience at the hairdresser was nice, the lady who cut my hair spoke little English, but fortunately there was a young guy there who did.  He was very nice and we chatted while he washed my hair.  In fear of not being able to explain to them what I wanted Silvia helped me translate prior to going. Thankfully between these instructions and the young English speaking gentleman I was able to relax and enjoy the ME time 🙂   I just got a trim and mostly the bulk taken out, but I was pleased with my cut.  The picture below does not look like anything happened from the time I walked in to the time I walked out, but this was because I think they were seeing how blown out and big they could make my hair 🙂  I am happy to report today that it has calmed down a bit!

By this time Nick had enough, he was tired and his hands were really bothering him from walking. The crutches that we borrowed from Luca are the kind where you bear a lot of weight on your hands, so he finds that if he does too much his hands hurt and even go to sleep, not a good combination when you need to use them 🙂  We made our way back to the bus stop, but unfortunately the 36 was passing by as we were crossing the street – and it was completely empty 🙁  Bummer, but we waited for the next bus, and go figure it was full – no way were we getting on it.  So we decided that we would take the 20 mins we had and go across the street to grab some dessert at a place that we had passed.

Yummy dessert from Douce

Of course as we were grabbing dessert another 36 went by, once again completely empty.  This was just not our day to grab the bus 🙂  As we were walking back across the street I noticed that we were right by the Mercato Orientale – Kristin had told me about it, but the last time we were down this way it was closed. We took a quick trip through, as to not miss our bus again 🙂  It was awesome, I am so excited to come back and look around some more and of course shop!

All in all we had a nice day, it was nice to be away, even if just for a little while.  It is getting me excited for next semester when Nick will be on two feet and we can go exploring together!
