This morning bright and early we departed the villa for Ospedale Galleria. It sure has become our home away from home! We were to arrive by 7:00 for what we were told was a 7:30 surgery, which I thought was odd. Nick was taken back about 8:45 and back in his room by 10:15. Other then looking like Karla prepped him for surgery (tons if iodine :)), he is doing well. He says it feels like someone kicked him in the shin, guess that has to be better then four pins sticking out if your leg 🙂

Pre surgery, someone was not in the mood to pose for pictures, but I was- lol

Typical wheelchair found in the halls of Ospedale Galleria – this is not your US healthcare institution as far as amenities go, but we really could not have asked for better care, or nicer people!

The halls of Ospedale Galleria, beautiful marble floors and staircases everywhere.
Today’s room is a little different, first and foremost the sign on the door states “box” and that literally is what it feels like. There is no ceiling on the room itself and there are three beds in one “box”, while much more roomy then his room was upstairs when he was inpatient, I iust really don’t seeing this flying in the US, it’s really noisy and no privacy. It doesn’t really matter because we can’t understand what anyone is saying anyhow- lol 😉

I have spent the last half hour battling with the window as it keeps flying open.
There is a small, folded up piece of paper attempting to hold this bad boy shut, buys it’s not really doing the job! 🙂

It has been wonderful and eye opening to experience another culture’s healthcare system, it amazes me the things that we take for granted in the US.
