My dear readers and beloved followers of A Broad Abroad, I feel awful that it has taken me so long to write this final blog post (well at least until the next adventure presents itself). After we returned home from Genova, we have not slowed down one bit. From flying to Ohio and driving back, moving into our new place, starting my job, drinks and dinners with friends and preparing for the much anticipated, and what we hope is final, surgery for Nick, our lives have been crazy!
Alas, I believe that things are going to slow down a bit, mainly because I again have a one legged husband! LOL
However, I did want to take the opportunity to write my loyal readers and THANK YOU for following along and supporting me/us during our time abroad. While it wasn’t always the easiest, and there were several bumps in our road, it was an experience of a lifetime and one that I wouldn’t trade anything for. We were able to visit places and experience cultures we would have never dreamt of. I told my mom that I remember being envious that my childhood babysitter had visited Greece many years ago and became engaged in front the of the Parthenon. At that time this place seemed so far away and never a place that I would have ever thought that I would have visited, but I did, and still can’t believe it!
I really am very thankful to everyone who followed along with our adventures and enjoyed reading about them, I have to say at times it was difficult for me to write about our experiences, because I often felt like I was bragging. I know that I wasn’t, but often times it felt like it.
Here are a few facts about our time abroad:
Countries Visited: 12
Cities Visited: 45
Miles Traveled: 113,519
(I believe that this number is higher as we actually traveled to many places twice)
World Covered: 7%
Gnocchi Consumed: too much to even count
Vino Corks Collected: 121
(not sure these were all consumed by us, but they might have been 😉
I plan on putting together a little slide show of our travels, with our favorite pictures to share with everyone. As soon as I have it completed, I will be sure to share here on the blog.
Thanks again to everyone for following along and again for all of your love and support during all of our adventures!
